Jest to stosunkowo nowy zawód i raczej nie ma studiów, które konkretnie do niego właśnie przygotowują. Jeśli jednak chce się zostać menedżerem kultury, warto wybrać się na kulturoznawstwo lub animację kulturową – czyli studia związane z kulturą i sztuką. Osoba, która chciałaby odnaleźć się na stanowisku menedżera kultury powinna mieć dobre znajomości w branży show biznesu. Jest to potrzebne, by móc osiągać sukcesy w tym zawodzie. W Polsce znani są menedżerowie znanych gwiazd, którzy niejako wypromowali je, a wraz z gwiazdami wypromowali siebie i swój talent organizatorski. Nie da się ukryć, że osoba, która chce pracować w tym zawodzie powinna być ambitna, wytrwała, umieć pracować pod presją czasu, być dyspozycyjna i mieć ogromne rozeznanie w branży kulturalnej. Powinna orientować się w wymaganiach poszczególnych firm, umieć organizować spotkania, cechować się wysoką kulturą osobistą i otwartością na człowieka.
Jak wygląda praca menagera kultury?
To osoba, która pośredniczy między światem artystów, a światem biznesu. Innymi słowy – pomaga wejść na rynek świeżym gwiazdom, wypromować ich nazwiska, muzykę, twórczość. Ściśle uczestniczy w organizowaniu wszelkich spotkań pomiędzy wydawcami, promotorami, a gwiazdą, nad którą sprawuje opiekę. Menedżer kultury musi mieć nie tylko rozeznanie w branży, ale także doskonale opanowaną sztukę negocjacji – będzie on niejako sprzedawał gwiazdę, czyli swój „produkt” innym firmom, które mogą początkowo nie być zainteresowane wypromowaniem tego konkretnego talentu.
Ścieżka kariery menagera kultury
Tak naprawdę jego zarobki zależą ściśle od efektów pracy. Nie jest to praca na etat, wymaga ogromnej dyspozycyjności, otwartości i samozaparcia. Menedżer klubu muzycznego w Polsce zarabia zaledwie około 1200 złotych netto. Jednak już menedżerowie znanych osobistości mogą zarabiać od 5 tysięcy złotych netto w górę. Wszystko to zależy od efektów ich pracy. Jeśli dana osoba lub grupa zostanie wypromowana tak, że zacznie grywać więcej koncertów, mieć więcej pracy i zleceń, wówczas jej menedżer dostanie z pewnością prowizję od swojej pracy, i to prowizję procentową, więc im wyższe zarobki gwiazdy, tym więcej on sam zarobi.

Zarobki jak w każdej branży mogą się drastycznie różnić i często są zależne od miejsca w którym wykonuje się zawód. Możemy jednak przyjać, że osoba na stanowisku menager kultury zarabia około 3000 zł miesięcznie.
